		<description>Nice usefull post. I usually like recent commits if Im gonna use a plugin or whatever too.. but maybe one doesn&#039;t have to be so anal about it in every case, only in 98% :)

I wouldn&#039;t be quite so quick to dismiss the &#039;no recent commits&#039; forum software.

I run a low-volume support forum on Beast (not even Altered, Savage, or Ultimate), and it&#039;s been rock-solid for me for coming up on 2 years now.  I probably pulled changes into it twice, at most, over that period.

No recent commits doesn&#039;t always mean defunct.  Sometimes, scarily enough, it means done.

(It&#039;s also remarkably nice, not feeling the upgrade pressure.)

Still, good luck in whatever you do choose.  I&#039;d be interested to hear how the issues with opinionated-forum work out.
