   If I got one of these (lets say after I graduate and actually have money) I’d try to use it for controlling my Linux environment in a few ways.

   • Gnome Desktop Controller:
     I’m a huge fan of the multiple desktops in Gnome, and typically have one desktop for my current work, one for my email, one for ‘distractions’ and one for whatever I want out of my face. Just so happens, 4 desktops fit nicely in 64 squares. Split it into 4 squares, each 4×4. The upper-left box in each square would jump to that desktop, and the lower-right would move the current window to that desktop. The other 14 buttons would control the first 14 windows opened, cycling between them being open maximized, regular sized, or minimized. Because it’d be rare to have 14 windows open on the same desktop, other macros could be made. Open All, Hide All, Hide Others, Open Others (like the Mac OS functions) could be pretty easy to add, and leave 10 windows that can be controlled.
   • Gnome Controller of DOOOOOM:
     Of course, why do you care what’s open on other desktops? Lets use the upper left box as a desktop controller for the current desktop, and the rest to control other functions. Upper right I’d use as a media controller. Play, Skip, all that good stuff. Keep 4-5 buttons for specific playlists, and add some viz options. Lower left I’d use for preset scripts. Open GAIM/XChat/Email all at once… Toss up an away message and launch a game. sudo updatedb… Anything I’ve always thought “man i wish that were at the push of a button. As for the last box… haven’t thought of it yet. This would probably have a mini desktop commander, with the buttons to move windows to other desktops on here. Also one might toggle into full desktop commander mode because hey, why should it be one or the other?

   Oh, yea… I’m a big Gnome fan… but i suppose this could go for KDE, Fluxbox, any other window manager… there’s so many ways to do Linux desktops I won’t discriminate.

   To summarize, This would be a wonderful tool to make working at your computer that much easier, by eliminating certain functions you do all the time, and putting them at your fingertips.
