Try Wizz RSS News Reader for Firefox is actually a great feed reading option. It is far richer than Sage, offering many features and options. Like the ability to automatically check feeds for new content, the ability to hide items that have already been read, the ability to filter feeds, etc., etc., etc.

Try it, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Liferea or Straw sound like what you want, or akgregator (or whatever the KDE apps is called).

AFAIK, Liferea is more actively maintained.

Both should be easy to find on http://www.gnomefiles.org/

it loses several million points for being written in java, but rssowl (http://www.rssowl.org/) is actually a very decent feed reader.

I know you said you used all the Firefox plugins, but you did not mention Sage. http://sage.mozdev.org/ I really like it but I read nowhere near 150 feeds.

Same boat, though I don't have as many feeds.

I use Sage in Firefox for public feeds (including this blog!), planets, etc.

For work stuff, akregator.

Let me say it again but less politely:

I don't care whether web-based feed readers are fast, cross-browser, cross-platform, work well on multiple machines, or have privacy options, having a website reading and caching my and other people's private data is unacceptable.

I use bloglines as well with close to 500 feeds. Unlike some other readers, they cache everything on their server, so it is very fast. Works beautifully on Linux and windows.
And it is even better when you use several machines.
Feeds can be private or public, and you can flag posts to keep them for later reading, or you can also mark feeds as unread.
